For a long time I’ve had a rack mountable cooling unit lying around. It turned out to be pretty nice.
I’m very fond of computer fans for some reason. I have quite a collection of such really. I just had to disassemble the unit and find out what sort of fans which was mounted inside.
Somehow I find them really pretty. 😀
It turned out to be some good old Papst fans.
And mounted inside the rack enclosure…
Mounting a unit such as this using only two screws made me a bit worried. By combining a bunch of cable ties I was able to fasten it to the top of the rack enclosure.
Cable ties are freaking awesome. Also, this unit really makes some noise, but obviously it moves some air as well.
